Psalms 40:2-3 (The Passion Translation)

"He stooped down to lift me out of danger, From the desolate pit I was in, out of the muddy mess I had fallen into. Now He’s lifted me up into a firm, secure place, And steadied me while I walk along His ascending path.
³A new song for a new day rises up in me Every time I think about how He breaks through for me!
Ecstatic praise pours out of my mouth until Everyone hears how God has set me free. Many will see His miracles; they’ll stand in awe of God, And fall in love with Him!"

I remember growing up hearing different opinions of who God is from lukewarm religious, true believers, and non-believers. The one thing that stuck out in my mind was how angry God was, maybe that is because I was angry. Maybe it has something to do with how our brains store memories.

Did you know that negative thoughts are stored in a larger part of your brain compared to positive thoughts? This is why you remember that one negative comment versus the 100 positive comments. #justscience

I heard so much about judgement, about how we are nothing but sinners, and how that is all we'll ever be. What a twisted state of mind people allow themselves to fall into by being around religion. If you live your life thinking that you have to live with sin until your death, then death is your savior not Jesus. The verse from Psalms above does not make me think of such an Abba Father, and no I'm not saying that God is all about happy, warm feelings. He is jealous for us, He demands our obedience, He blatantly tells us to put nothing else before Him in His Word. But if we do these things the Word of God says our Abba Father will give us everything our hearts desire, and that everything we touch will prosper. So what are you waiting for?

"Your circumstances, upbringing, relationship with God, current mood...all of these things shape how you hear. I could read you a Scripture today, and you will get something out of it. Then, I could read the same Scripture to you a month from now, and you will receive something completely different, if your heart is open.

It’s the same reason that the Scriptures spoken 2,000 years ago still apply to your life today. It's the same Scripture, but everybody is receiving it on a personal level. Because the Word of God is alive and active. And it’s always applicable. His Word is just as true today as it was a millennium ago. That is the power of the living, breathing Word of God, which is always able to renew your mind and transform your life." ~Steven Furtick
